1 The AI Match Maker and New Influencer Explorer

The AI tools use an artificial intelligence algorithm that matches influencers to your brand, taking this time consuming task off your table. The AI technology is explained in more details on this page.

1.1 How to enter your Brand social information

Before you can match influencers against your brand, you will need to enter your brand’s social handles – that is your brand’s instagram account, and / or facebook ID. This is to make sure we can get the necessary data to make a valid match.

No personal or sensitive credentials are needed.

1. Go to “Settings” in the left hand navigation under “AI TOOLS”.
2. Enter your brand’s social account IDs (if you don’t plan on using Facebook for matches, you can leave that one out).
3. Click on “SAVE SOCIAL ACCOUNT INFO”.

1.2 How to use the Match Maker

The Influencer Match Maker is great for when you know the profiles you want to match. This could be profiles you are already working with, profiles which contact you for collaboration, or profiles you are provided with by an agency.

Enter one or more influencer handles, one per line (up to ten per match). Click on “START MATCH MAKER”.

You will receive an email once the result is ready.

1.3 How to use the New Influencer Explorer

The New Influencer explorer will return a list of perfectly matched profiles, based on a set of filters defined by you. Meaning that you don’t need to know the profiles beforehand, and basically this is a great way of finding new influencers, and / or going to new markets.

Filters:
– Country (where the followers of the influencers live)
– Topic (usually setting it to all will be sufficient, as the algorithm will figure out which category your brand operates within.
– Follower size
– Gender of the influencer

Click on “FIND NEW INFLUENCERS”.

You will receive an email once the result is ready.

PLEASE NOTE: that you can only use the New Influencer Explorer in countries you find in the “Country” drop-down. We are however constantly adding new countries to the database. If you would like us to prioritize a certain country, please let us know at sales@cocolab.club

1.4 How to read the results

Both The Match Maker and New Influencer Explorer return a similar result list. The total score goes from 0 – 100 and is also broken down to how much weight the algorithm has put on the visuals, and how much on the post copy. The algorithm looks at all content put up by the influencer in the past 12 months, hence the ratio between visuals and copy weighting can vary slightly from influencer to influencer.

It is important to mention that a high score for one brand is not necessarily a high score for another brand – especially if the two brands are from two different categories. E.g. We typically see that in fashion everything above 60 is high, whereas for watches a score of 40 is considered high. As a brand, you need to find your benchmark, which can typically be done after making a few matches.

2 The Campaign Management Tools

Running campaigns is easy and can be done in a few steps. Determine whether you want to promote a product, an offer or your brand. When your web-shop is connected to Cocolab you will be able to track clicks, sales and conversions.

2.1 How to connect your Shopify or WooCommerce store

Depending on your plan, you can connect one or more web-shops to Cocolab. If you connect more than one web-shop, you will be asked to select which shop each campaign is created for.

Connecting the shop:
1. Go to “ SETTINGS” in the left hand navigation under “CAMPAIGN MANAGER”.
2. Click on “ADD SHOP”. The text below tells you how many shops you have included in your plan.
3. Choose which shop-CMS your webshop is using from the drop down menu.

Shopify:

For Shopify stores you need to enter the store name on the line, and click on “REGISTER AND INSTALL APP”. You will then be taken to your Shopify back-end, where you need to approve the app. Instructions on how to find the store name can be seen in this video.

WooCommerce:

When connecting a WooCommerce store, you need to enter the store URL with “www” but without “https://”. Example: www.examplestore.com. Click on “REGISTER APP”. A text will appear with a plugin download link. Download the plugin, install and activate it in your WordPress back-end.

2.2 Campaigns

Campaigns are your tool to track the effectiveness of your influencer activities. Nothing is more important than being able to tell how much you’re getting in return from your investment, and the campaign tools help you answer this.

2.2.1 Create a campaign

1. Go to campaigns.
2. Click on “CREATE CAMPAIGN”.
3. Fill in the necessary campaign information.
4. Click on “Create campaign”.

Choose your shop from the drop-down.

Select the shop you are creating the campaign for.

Campaign name

Give your campaign a short informative name, e.g. “New Spring Summer 20 collection 15% commission”, or “Brand X branding activity March”.

Campaign image

Choose an image so influencers can visually connect your brand or product to the campaign. Use your logo or a product image. Please notice that if your image format is not 1:1 (square) it will be cropped.

Campaign start and end dates

Choose the start and end dates for your campaign. You can leave the end date field blank if you want the campaign to run until you close it manually. This is especially effective when running always-on campaigns.

Campaign description

Write specific details and requirements for the campaign. This includes which hashtags must be used and tagging. Also try to instruct on visual direction, tone of voice etc. but make sure you also leave some creative freedom for the influencers. Also make sure to mention legal requirements like including #sponsored or #advertisement in the posts. Other legal requirement also need to be entered here if you are operating the food, medical similar industries.

Commission for unique clicks

Choose how much each influencer gets in commission for the unique clicks they generate. Keep in mind that clicks coming from influencer posts, are usually more worth than when coming from e.g. adwords or SoMe paid advertising. This is caused by the fact that it takes a very conscious decision for followers to look for a link in the bio, or swipe up (if on instagram).

Commission for generated sales

Choose how much each influencer gets in %commission for the sales they generate. Sales are tracked if made in the same browser that gets the initial click. It will also be tracked if it is made at a later point in time, but still in the same browser. We strongly advise you not to use sales as the only performance metric, as some sales will be made in other browsers than the one that received the initial click. Let influencers get commission for both clicks and sales.

Refund period

Refund Period is the number of days a customer has for returning their purchase. The commission for any order will not be paid out before this period has ended. Set to 0 days if you want to disregard a Refund Period.

Invite only

If you check this box, only invited influencers can join this campaign. Only you and your Premium influencers can invite influencers to “invite only” campaigns.

2.2.2 Manage campaigns

Campaigns are fairly simple to manage. Once you have created a campaign, it will show up on the campaign overview page (clicking on “CAMPAIGNS” in the left hand navigation).

Per default it will show all live campaigns, but you can also filter by FUTURE, CLOSED, ALL and by shop (if you have more than one shop connected).


Click on “SEE DETAILS” on a campaign card to see the details, performance and influencers affiliated with the campaign. It will also be here you can edit or close the campaign. Please notice that not all fields can be edited once a campaign is live. If you find yourself in a place where the details you want to edit are locked, then the only solution will be closing the current campaign and creating a new one.

2.2.3 Invite influencers to campaigns

Once you have created a campaign, you can start inviting influencers to it. It does not have to be live (past start date) before you start inviting influencers to it.

Make the invite

1. Go to “CAMPAIGNS”
2. Click on “SEE DETAILS” on the campaign card in question.
3. Click on “INFLUENCERS”.
4. Click on “INVITE TO CAMPAIGN” in the table.
5. In the overlay search by social name or email. Or choose “YOUR INFLUENCERS” for profiles you have already worked with.
6. Click on “INVITE”.

PLEASE NOTE: that influencers need to have to logged on to Cocolab at least once before you can find them under the “INVITE” function. Logging on for them is very easy as they only need to use their Facebook account for login (no need to fill out complex forms). A more detailed description of how influencers logon can be found here, and we advise you to send this link to them when making agreements.

That’s it! The influencer is now invited and has received an email which explains the details. Influencers can logon and see their own performance on all campaigns they participate in, find their sales links etc.

2.2.4 Commission

As a brand, you determine how much commission each influencer gets from the clicks and / or sales they generate. You need to determine how much each action is worth for you. In our data we can see that an average click price sits around 0.75 – 1.5 EUR (depending on industry). The average sales commission is from 10 – 20% in the Fashion industry.

Commission cycle

The commission for each campaign and influencer is calculated in commission cycles. Each commission cycle runs from the first day of the month and ends on the last day of the month. This is regardless of which period the campaign itself runs in.

This overview illustrates three different commission cases.

PLEASE NOTE THAT: If a campaign stretches over several months, it will also include several commission cycles.

Sales commission will not be calculated before a set return period has ended for a specific sale. The return period only applies to sales.

Each commission cycle shows up under “PAYMENTS” for both the brand and influencer. See section 2.4 for more details on payments.

Additional fee

You can also give your influencers an additional fee on top of the commission they earn. In some cases, that is required by higher profiled influencers. Add an additional fee by going to “INFLUENCERS” in a campaign. Choose the influencer in question in the table and add the amount. Click on “SAVE”. The additional fee will be added to the final commission calculation.

2.2.5 Premium influencer function

The Premium Influencer function allows you to promote one or more influencers to become a so-called “Premium” influencer. This functionality is more advanced than just running “regular” campaigns in one layer, but it is very effective when using loyal brand ambassadors.

Promoting an influencer to Premium gives them special privileges:
– They can invite other influencers to the campaign.
– They get separate commission rates (set by you).
– They get commission from clicks and / or sales made by the influencers they have invited to the campaign.

Setting commission for Premium influencers

The Premium Influencer commission is set during the campaign creation. Simply activate the Premium function by using the slider on clicks and / or sales. You will be asked fill in commission rates for the Premium influencer, and how much commission the Premium influencer earns from the activities made by influencers invited by the Premium influencer.

Promoting an influencer to Premium

Prompting an influencer to Premium is easy. Simply go to a specific campaign and click on INFLUENCERS. In the influencer table click on “ACTIONS”. A menu appears that allows you to remove or promote the influencer. Clicking on “PROMOTE TO PREMIUM” will give them Premium status, illustrated by a star in the influencer table. The influencer will also receive an email telling them they have been promoted. The email also includes their new campaign link (which can also be found when they login).

A premium influencer will only have a “Premium” status on the specific campaign. For new campaigns the influencer will have to be promoted again.

IMPORTANT! In many countries it is required by law that all parties know who is getting what when participating in a campaign. In other words; if a Premium influencer is inviting other influencers to a campaign, they need to be informed about how much the Premium influencer is getting from their actions.

2.2.6 Reporting

There are several ways of seeing the effectiveness of your campaigns. You will find the most detailed view when clicking on “SEE DETAILS” on a campaign card, and then “PERFORMANCE”. This view will give you all the information about the campaign activities in a selected period.

Clicking on “INFLUENCERS” on a specific campaign will give you an overview of each influencer’s performance.

The “DASHBOARD” in the left hand navigation gives you an all time overview of all campaigns for your brand.

2.3 Your influencers

“INFLUENCERS” shows a table of all influencers you have ever worked with. You can filter by performance and whether they have been a Premium influencer or not. This overview is very useful for identifying the best influencers for future campaigns, or for even closer relationships with your brand ambassadors.

2.4 Payments

Payments is where you get an overview of how much commission your campaigns have generated. The payment reports follow the commission cycles as described in section 2.2.4 (from the first day of the month to the last day of the month).

As a brand you get to set a status on the payment itself, which will be visible for the influencer(s). This will help you and the influencers keep track of each payment for the work made on each campaign.

Please notice that we are currently working on a payment function that allows you to pay influencers their fee directly through Cocolab. We will make sure to inform you once this function is ready.
